The Half Moon Foundation seeks to identify and support initiatives that make meaningful and sustainable impact on the lives of Jamaicans through investments in education, community service and environmental protection and preservation.
Half Moon's philanthropic journey spans over 40 years and began with Half Moon partnering with SOS International to assist in establishing a facility in Montego Bay. This resulted in the construction of a four bedroom house aptly named the Half Moon House which accommodated 8 children and one house mother. It was off the heels of this that Half Moon expanded its philanthropic efforts, supported by the generosity of guests through the Dollar a Day donation programme, corporate support and charitable fundraising events.
In the field of education, we have adopted the Barrett Town All Age School, administer a scholarship programme for tertiary level institutions in hospitality management, facilitate work experience for secondary and tertiary level students and operate a trainee management programme.
Our community service outreach sees the ongoing maintenance of the Half Moon House at the SOS Children's Village, the implementation of a coordinated programme with the Granville Place of Safety for Girls and support for the elderly and mentally ill.
We have been a long-standing supporter of the Montego Bay Marine Park and are active participants in World Wetlands Day and Earth Day programmes.
